Provincial Capital Salzburg

Dachstienhöhle  

Dachstein Ice Palace
(ca. 80 km on the Hallstättersee) Only 3 min. on foot from the summit station of the Dachstein glacier lift is the Dachstein ice palace. It is open daily to visitors the entire year– during any weather. On a tour deep in the glacier, which also includes many large recesses, numerous attractions such as the “throne room”, the “crystal dome”, or the “blue salon” are awaiting you .

Eisriesenwelt  

World of Ice Giants
This giant ice cave is a labyrinth of caves with a total length of over 40 km. Its formation, as with all caves, has taken place over a very long period of time. The caves in the Alps are still to this day in the process of development.

Freilichtmuseum  

Salzburg Open-Air Museum - Grossgmain
(ca. 55 km in the direction of Salzburg) Open: July to November 60 original farm buildings from 5 centuries, charming gardens, an impressive multimedia tractor exhibit, as well as crafts demonstrations guarantee a unique outdoor experience. The younger visitors can also look forward to an adventure playground .

Kaprun  

Reservoirs of the Tauern Hydroelectric Station in Kaprun
(ca. 70 km in the direction of Zell am See) Open: beginning of May to mid-October Visit to the fascinating power station group of Glockner- Kaprun, a national emblem of Austria with its Wasserfallboden and Moserboden reservoirs. Take a ride up with Europe’s largest funicular to both reservoirs at an elevation of 1,672 and 2,036 m with high-alpine views of Hohe Tauern National Park and the summer ski area on the Kitzsteinhorn.

(ca. 50 km in the direction of Salzburg) Open: April to October, daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. At the foot of the Dürrnberg in Hallein is one of the most important collections of the Celtic past in Central Europe .
